So the training started and then stalled. My training plan is fairly basic. I am following a standard marathon training schedule. Once I get up to "race day" I will then take 2-3 days of for recovery, then run 5 1/2 marathons in a row. Take a couple of days off. Then run a 3 marathons in a row. I will continue this and add marathons and 1/2 marathons as I "feel" what is right.
My left ankle is still swollen from me not following the recovery plan correctly. I have to admit the same thing happened for the Goofy Challenge (1/2 marathon followed by a full marathon) I came in a little cocky, or arrogant. I was fresh off an Ironman. I finished exactly at my scheduled time, and this was even after walking half of the marathon. I was injury, Calf muscle seized in the swim. It never let go. So the first 1/2 of the marathon after the swim and bike. I was walking. I have never felt pain like that.
But I finished. So I figured the Goofy Challenge was just a marathon! Actually it was just a 1/2 marathon (training run) followed by a full marathon. Easy, no 180kl bike before hand, no hour long swim, just a run. A nice short marathon. Now I did fine. I took my time, stopped for a ride in Disney world (hey I am running a marathon in Disney world. You got to go on a ride) So while I finished, I hurt. I hurt allot. My recovery rate was way to long. I was to cocky.
So I am more careful now. I am trying to get back into a nice running routine. However, writing, working, speaking, and life, keeps getting in the way.
So tomorrow I start training again from scratch. Right at the beginning. Like I have never run before. No more arrogance. Just some nice and simple, back to basics marathon schedule training.
