Unboxing and first use review of the LG-E900 Optimus

So I must say I really like the phone. It's simple, easy to use. Hooked up to Zune without an issue. The screen quality is really good. The connection to the my network, my xbox, and the web was easy. I mean if I can do it with a brain injury. Non cognitively challenged people will find this OS very predictive and well smart.

I am just getting used to it and it's multitude of apps. There area allot of features and apps to play with. I really like the idea of pimpin out my phone and making it mine.

There are a couple of issues that I find a little confusing. One it's a window's mobile phone. But you can't connect your Outlook Calendar to it. I find this a little odd. If you have an Iphone, or Blackberry, there alot's of apps to connect your Outlook calendar. However the phone made by Windows, doesnt connect to Windows.

You can connect your data, i.e. OneNote, Word doc's etc to your phone by going throught the cloud. This is a free service that allows you to upload a document to a windows storage device so that it can be accessed and worked on from your home, work, or phone. Some people have issues with this, however I don't. I am not working with protective media, or have any issues with someone else seeing my Data. I am not that important and don't have any trademark idea's.

However what you can't do is connect your outlook calendar. For me this is a big problem. I use my phone as my backup memory. As my brain injury makes my memory extremly unreliable. I need to know where I am, where I am going, what I do when I get there and how to get to the next task.

I also find the keyboard a little difficult to type. Now the keyboard itself is very well designed and thought out application. However it seems to be slightly off. When you to hit "a" or any other command I find that the part you touch. Doesnt meet with the what you wanted to touch. I have gotten a little better. But whenever I type an emai, txt msg, ip addres the accuracy of the keyboard seems to be a constant challenge. Not a deal breaker but if you are someone who wants to do alot of txt'ing, and tweeting. I would recomend the Optimus with the slide out keyboard.

The phon itself feels very solid. I find setting Mobile Support a little frustrating as the LG-E900 is not one of phones that it supports.

So I really like the phone. I feel that I am sitting with a brand new phone, a brand new OS, and the first addition. I have seen other posts of the frustration with lack of outlook support. The phone doesnt connect to the pc like Window mobile 6.5 did. I find this odd. We will see what MS does with this issue.

The phone is fun. In fact I find myself putting it down because I was done setting it all up, updating facebook, taking some pics. It just worked.

Oh the headsets is really good. Really good. I usually replace the supplied headset but there is no need with the one that comes with the phone. Next all I need is a case!!

This is the phone that I will be running across the country with. Listening to my tunes, and doing interviews while running!!
