Easy Recovery Run

Easy Recovery Run by temporallobe at Garmin Connect - Details

Today's run was hard. My thighs were so tight. It took along time to get warmed up. I was running down the street at a walking pace, with my Respro mask and on my video camera. The POV 1.5. I got a few looks.

I have purchased Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements 8 Plus. I am planning on Video taping and photographing as I run across Canada. However my current Laptop does not have the required processing speed to run Photoshop Elements. So I started researching what I need.

The files I have are huge. I mean my run today recorded an AVI file that was 1.14 GB in size. That is compressed. So when I bring into to Adobe to edit. The file gets uncompressed and is huge. The editing software for Video in HD 1080 are also huge. It takes a big engine to drive all of this. Unfortunately my computer is lacking in the processing speed.

So dealing with Adobe Customer service was frustrating. At least after a few hours we were able to find out what was going on.

So I then started to research for a computer that will handle the kind of processing I will be doing. I will need a high processor, a graphics card, ram and memory. These do not come cheap. I looked at Dell, HP, Apple, and basically to get what I need at the best price, I figured on a Alien Ware 15x with a Intel Core i7 940XM quad Core 2.13GHz. 8Gb Dual Channel Memory (2x4GB DDR3) and a 1GB GDDR3 NVIDIA GTX 260M Graphics Card. plus other stuff.

So I went through and I ordered this from AlienWare (sorry) Dell.ca

Called online and I had great help and everything was good. I called the next day and wanted to make a get the Core i7 940XM core processor instead of the i7 7 (something) processor.

"No problem sir."

What the person on the phone did, however, was instead of adding to the original order. He cancelled the process and started a new order. This would have been fine, except the first order, done the day before, had placed a hold on my credit card. So when cancelled it, and then placed the "new" order. There was no time for the canceled order to show back up on my credit cards.

So the purchase is declined. So he tries and tries again, and again. I get a call from my credit card that there are some "alarming" things going on with my card!

So Alien Ware (sorry Dell) call back and the guy goes "well why don't we use another card"? I advise him "I only have the one card and I have limited funds, this is a big deal to me"

So he pushed me and pushes me. "want to try a payment plan"............

"no I don't want a payment, I don't need a payment plan. I have enough money for one Laptop, not two"

He still doesnt understand what is going on.

I explain again and again, that we will have to wait for the the cancelled order to show up on my card, the hold will be released, then go ahead with the "new" order.

The guy was very hard to talk to, very confusing for someone with a brain injury and he just kept trying to up sell me. I mean I am dropping allot of money this computer. Stop trying to nickle and dime me.

So I started doing some more research and what I might do, is build my own laptop. Apparently the guys who owned Alien Ware and sold it to Dell, have started another company making computers. I am going to consider dealing with them as they at least responded to my emails and seemed well, like the understood what I wanted and needed.

I realize that this system that I am planning on buying is probably overkill. Here is my logic. I don't ever want through this again. I want to buy something that is as up to date as I can get. So it will last me the longest time. I will not be purchasing a new computer for at least 5 years. More likely 7-10. This laptop has to be able to put up with the demands of my "Run To Remember"

So let's see what happens as I try to paddle through this confusing world of computers and photoshop. Ok I am off to the gym for weights!!
